# MemberPress Pro – Installation Guide

# Overview

[MemberPress](https://nippylaunch.com/mp-files/memberpress-pro.zip/) is a WordPress membership and access-control platform for memberships, registrations, payments, subscriptions, protected content, rules, groups, coupons, account pages, and member communications.

**When to use it.**Use it when the site needs paid or free membership products and enforceable access rules connected to a tested signup, payment, account, cancellation, and email workflow.

# Before You Begin

**Platform compatibility.**Use a WordPress and PHP combination supported by the current developer release. Minimum versions can change; verify the current official product page or plugin/theme metadata before production deployment. Do not bypass an activation or compatibility warning without identifying its cause.

## Requirements and dependencies

- **-**A supported WordPress/PHP environment and HTTPS.
- **-**A valid MemberPress plan for official licensing, updates, and applicable add-ons.
- **-**A compatible payment gateway account.
- **-**Reliable email delivery, cron, legal terms, privacy, tax, refund, and cancellation policies.

## Pre-installation checks

- **-**Back up and define membership names, prices, billing periods, access duration, cancellation/refund policy, protected content, gateway, tax, and emails.
- **-**Use gateway test mode and staging.
- **-**Identify existing user roles, members, orders, and content-protection rules before migration.

# Installation

1. 1. Go to Plugins > [Add New Plugin](https://nippylaunch.com/mp-files/memberpress-pro.zip/) > Upload Plugin.
2. 2. [Upload the MemberPress ZIP](https://nippylaunch.com/mp-files/memberpress-pro.zip/), install, and activate it.
3. 3. Open MemberPress and complete the initial setup screens.
4. 4. Connect the valid license.
5. 5. Configure default pages and a test payment gateway before publishing a membership.

# License Activation

1. 1. Open MemberPress > Settings > License.
2. 2. Select the account connection flow or enter the valid MemberPress license key as offered by the current interface. (First, check whether the Pro version is already active, as manual license entry may not be required.)
3. 3. Confirm active status and update/add-on access. The archive alone does not grant a MemberPress subscription or support.

**Important.**A premium download does not automatically establish ownership of the original developer's account, license key, automatic-update service, cloud features, or direct support. Use only [Credentials](https://nippylaunch.com/encyclopedia/credentials/) that are valid for this site and were supplied through an authorized account or an explicit [Nippy Launch](https://nippylaunch.com/encyclopedia/nippy-launch/) entitlement.

# Initial Setup

1. 1. Review General, Pages, Account, Fields, Payments, Emails, Marketing, Taxes, and Info settings as applicable.
2. 2. Confirm MemberPress creates or uses the correct login, account, thank-you, and unauthorized-access pages.
3. 3. Add a payment gateway in test mode.
4. 4. Create one test membership and one simple Rule.
5. 5. Complete registration, payment, login, access, cancellation, refund, and email tests.

# Recommended Configuration

- **-**Protect content with explicit Rules and test from a nonadministrator account.
- **-**Keep payment gateways in test mode until the full lifecycle passes.
- **-**Use clear membership terms, renewal dates, cancellation, refund, and tax disclosures.
- **-**Avoid broad rules that accidentally protect login, checkout, account, or public legal pages.
- **-**Use reliable cron and SMTP for renewals, reminders, and transactional mail.

# Main Features

The installed edition can provide the following primary capabilities. Availability may depend on the active plan, add-ons, and current release.

- **-**Membership products and recurring billing
- **-**Registration, login, and account pages
- **-**Content-protection Rules
- **-**Groups, coupons, reminders, and emails
- **-**Payments, reports, and add-on ecosystem

# How to Use It

**Practical starting workflow.**Create a monthly sandbox membership protecting one test page. Register as a new member, pay in test mode, verify access and email, cancel, test expired/unauthorized access, refund the transaction, and reconcile MemberPress with the gateway.

# Integrations

- **-**Supported payment gateways
- **-**Email marketing/CRM services
- **-**WooCommerce and learning systems through documented integrations
- **-**MemberPress add-ons such as Downloads, PDF Invoice, and Account Nav Tabs

Enable an integration only after its account ownership, permissions, data flow, and failure behavior have been tested. Keep secret [Credentials](https://nippylaunch.com/encyclopedia/credentials/) out of page content and screenshots.

# Common Issues & Troubleshooting

- **- Member can see protected content.**Review Rule type, conditions, priority, page cache, and whether the raw file URL remains public.
- **- Valid member is blocked.**Check membership status, expiration, transaction, Rule priority, account, and cache.
- **- Payment completes but access is missing.**Inspect gateway/webhook logs, MemberPress transaction status, currency, and scheduled actions.
- **- Emails do not arrive.**Review MemberPress email settings, sender [Domain](https://nippylaunch.com/encyclopedia/domain/), SMTP logs, and cron.
- **- License does not activate.**Confirm the key/account, site URL, plan status, and outbound HTTPS.

If the problem persists, reproduce it on staging, capture the exact error and relevant logs, and compare the behavior with nonessential plugins temporarily disabled. Restore the production site rather than troubleshooting destructively in place.

# Updating the Plugin or Resource

1. 1. Create an offsite backup and review compatibility with gateway and add-ons.
2. 2. Update on staging and repeat the entire membership lifecycle.
3. 3. Monitor gateway webhooks, transactions, emails, scheduled actions, and access after deployment.

- **-**Confirm that the backup completed and can be accessed independently of WordPress.
- vReview the official changelog and compatibility notes.
- **-**Update during a low-risk window and keep a tested rollback path.
- **-**Clear relevant caches and perform the product-specific functional tests listed above.

# Uninstallation

1. 1. Export members, transactions, subscriptions, Rules, coupons, and configuration.
2. 2. Do not delete MemberPress while live recurring gateway subscriptions exist without a migration or cancellation plan.
3. 3. Deleting WordPress data may not cancel billing at the gateway.

Deactivation and deletion are not the same as data removal. Confirm the product's current cleanup options, [Database](https://nippylaunch.com/encyclopedia/database/) tables, uploaded files, remote data, connected accounts, and continuing external billing or scheduled actions before removal.

# Security & Best Practices

- **-**Use HTTPS, unique administrator accounts, and multi-factor authentication.
- **-**Protect payment/webhook keys and member data.
- **-**Use least privilege for member managers.
- **-**Reconcile gateway and MemberPress records and test backups/restores.
- **-**Use unique administrator accounts, least-privilege roles, HTTPS, and multi-factor authentication where supported.
- **-**Keep the resource, WordPress, PHP, theme, and dependencies on supported versions.
- **-**Store backups and recovery instructions outside the WordPress site.
