# Pretty Links Pro – Installation Guide

# Overview

[Pretty Links Pro](https://nippylaunch.com/mp-files/pretty-links-pro.zip/) creates branded short URLs and manages redirects, link attributes, organization, automation, and click reporting inside WordPress.

**When to use it.**Use it for stable campaign, affiliate, podcast, social, or offline links where the branded URL should remain constant while the destination can be maintained centrally.

# Before You Begin

**Platform compatibility.**Use a WordPress and PHP combination supported by the current developer release. Minimum versions can change; verify the current official product page or plugin/theme metadata before production deployment. Do not bypass an activation or compatibility warning without identifying its cause.

## Requirements and dependencies

- **-**Administrator access and working WordPress permalinks.
- **-**A redirect and analytics ownership plan.
- **-**Disclosure and link-attribute rules for affiliate or sponsored destinations.
- **-**An export/backup of any existing short-link system before migration.

## Pre-installation checks

- **-**Back up the site and inventory existing slugs and destination URLs.
- **-**Reserve a naming convention for links, categories, and campaigns.
- **-**Confirm no page, post, or endpoint already uses the intended short slugs.

# Installation

1. 1. Go to [Plugins](https://nippylaunch.com/mp-files/pretty-links-pro.zip/)> Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin.
2. 2. [Upload the Pretty Links Pro ZIP](https://nippylaunch.com/mp-files/pretty-links-pro.zip/), install, and activate it.
3. 3. Open Pretty Links and complete the onboarding prompts that apply.
4. 4. Review default link options before creating links.
5. 6. Create one noncritical test link and verify its redirect and click record.

# License Activation

1. 1. Open Pretty Links > Options > License, enter a valid Pretty Links license key, and activate it. (First, check whether the Pro version is already active, as manual license entry may not be required.)
2. 2. Confirm update access. The archive alone does not provide a Caseproof account, license, or vendor support.

**Important.**A premium download does not automatically establish ownership of the original developer's account, license key, automatic-update service, cloud features, or direct support. Use only [Credentials](https://nippylaunch.com/encyclopedia/credentials/) that are valid for this site and were supplied through an authorized account or an explicit [Nippy Launch](https://nippylaunch.com/encyclopedia/nippy-launch/) entitlement.

# Initial Setup

1. 1. Choose default redirect behavior and tracking policy.
2. 2. Set appropriate nofollow, sponsored, parameter forwarding, and reporting options.
3. 3. Create categories/tags for ownership or campaign organization.
4. 4. Create the first link with a readable slug and clear internal title.
5. 5. Test with tracking/consent configurations and from outside the administrator session.

# Recommended Configuration

- **-**Use permanent redirects only when the branded URL is intended to remain stable.
- **-**Do not change a published slug without adding a migration redirect and updating campaign assets.
- **-**Use rel=sponsored for paid/affiliate links when applicable and follow disclosure rules.
- **-**Avoid masking destinations in a misleading way.
- **-**Limit detailed click storage to a justified retention period and coordinate with consent requirements.

# Main Features

The installed edition can provide the following primary capabilities. Availability may depend on the active plan, add-ons, and current release.

- **-**Branded short URLs
- **-**Redirect types and parameter controls
- **-**Link grouping and default options
- **-**Affiliate-link automation and replacement features
- **-**Click reports in applicable configurations

# How to Use It

**Practical starting workflow.**Create /go/demo for a test destination, add campaign parameters, enable the required link attributes, click it from a private browser, confirm one redirect and one report entry, then change only the destination to validate the long-term branded URL workflow.

# Integrations

- **-**Affiliate networks and campaign destinations
- **-**Google Analytics or other measurement systems
- **-**Content automation features
- **-**Email, social, QR, and offline campaigns can reuse the branded URL

Enable an integration only after its account ownership, permissions, data flow, and failure behavior have been tested. Keep secret [Credentials](https://nippylaunch.com/encyclopedia/credentials/) out of page content and screenshots.

# Common Issues & Troubleshooting

- **- Link returns 404.**Resave permalinks, confirm the slug is unique, and clear cache/CDN rules.
- **- Redirect loops.**Ensure the destination is not the same pretty link or another redirect that returns to it.
- **- Clicks are not tracked.**Review tracking settings, privacy exclusions, cache, bots, and administrator exclusion.
- **- Affiliate parameters disappear.**Review parameter-forwarding settings and the destination's accepted query string.
- **- Link was hijacked by another page.**Change the conflicting WordPress slug or choose a unique Pretty Link slug.

If the problem persists, reproduce it on staging, capture the exact error and relevant logs, and compare the behavior with nonessential plugins temporarily disabled. Restore the production site rather than troubleshooting destructively in place.

# Updating the Plugin or Resource

1. 1. Export links and back up before updating.
2. 2. Test representative redirect types, tracking, parameters, and automation on staging.
3. 3. Monitor published campaign URLs after production deployment.

- **-**Confirm that the backup completed and can be accessed independently of WordPress.
- **-**Review the official changelog and compatibility notes.
- **-**Update during a low-risk window and keep a tested rollback path.
- **-**Clear relevant caches and perform the product-specific functional tests listed above.

# Uninstallation

1. 1. Export every link, slug, and destination before removal.
2. 2. Replace or recreate live branded URLs before deleting the plugin; otherwise published links can fail.
3. 3. Plan retention or deletion of click data.

Deactivation and deletion are not the same as data removal. Confirm the product's current cleanup options, [Database](https://nippylaunch.com/encyclopedia/database/) tables, uploaded files, remote data, connected accounts, and continuing external billing or scheduled actions before removal.

# Security & Best Practices

- **-**Restrict redirect administration to trusted users.
- **-**Audit destinations for phishing, malware, and expired affiliate offers.
- **-**Protect click data and avoid storing unnecessary personal identifiers.
- **-**Document ownership of every high-value slug.
- **-**Use unique administrator accounts, least-privilege roles, HTTPS, and multi-factor authentication where supported.
- **-**Keep the resource, WordPress, PHP, theme, and dependencies on supported versions.
- **-**Store backups and recovery instructions outside the WordPress site.
