Memberpress Account Nav Tabs Pro – Installation Guide

Overview #

MemberPress Account Nav Tabs adds custom tabs to the MemberPress Account page. A tab can present account-related content or direct members to an external or internal destination.

When to use it. Use it when members need a clear account-area entry point for resources, onboarding, support, downloads, profile tools, or another protected workflow.

Before You Begin #

Platform compatibility. Use a WordPress and PHP combination supported by the current developer release. Minimum versions can change; verify the current official product page or plugin/theme metadata before production deployment. Do not bypass an activation or compatibility warning without identifying its cause.

Requirements and dependencies #

  • – MemberPress must be installed and active.
  • – An eligible MemberPress plan/add-on entitlement under current official requirements.
  • – A configured MemberPress Account page.
  • – Protected content rules when a tab exposes membership-specific material.

Pre-installation checks #

  • – Back up and map the existing account navigation.
  • – Decide the tab’s audience, destination, order, and mobile label length.
  • – Protect the underlying content independently; a navigation tab is not itself a complete access-control system.

Installation #

  1. 1. Preferred licensed workflow: open MemberPress > Add-ons, locate Account Nav Tabs, and install/activate it.
  2. 2. Provided-ZIP workflow: go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin, upload the verified add-on ZIP, install, and activate it.
  3. 3. Open MemberPress > Settings > Account and locate Account Nav Tabs.
  4. 4. Add one test tab, save, and inspect the member Account page.

License Activation #

  1. 1. Keep the main MemberPress license active under MemberPress > Settings > License. (First, check whether the Pro version is already active, as manual license entry may not be required.)
  2. 2. The add-on entitlement follows the connected MemberPress plan; the archive alone does not grant account access, updates, or support.

Important. A premium download does not automatically establish ownership of the original developer’s account, license key, automatic-update service, cloud features, or direct support. Use only Credentials that are valid for this site and were supplied through an authorized account or an explicit Nippy Launch entitlement.

Initial Setup #

  1. 1. Create a short tab title and either enter its content or specify the intended URL.
  2. 2. Choose same-tab or new-tab behavior deliberately.
  3. 3. Order the tab near related account tasks.
  4. 4. Test the account page as an active member and on mobile.
  5. 5. Verify the destination’s own MemberPress Rule or permission checks.

Recommended Configuration #

  • – Keep account navigation task-focused and labels short.
  • – Open external destinations in a new tab only when it improves orientation and disclose the transition.
  • – Protect member-only content at the page/file/application level.
  • – Do not insert secret tokens or private data directly into tab content.
  • – Test for active, expired, canceled, and unauthorized users.

Main Features #

The installed edition can provide the following primary capabilities. Availability may depend on the active plan, add-ons, and current release.

  • – Custom Account page tabs
  • – Embedded tab content
  • – Internal or external tab destinations
  • – Tab ordering and link behavior
  • – Member-centered account navigation

How to Use It #

Practical starting workflow. Create a Resources tab that points to a MemberPress-protected page. Test it as an active member, an expired member, and a logged-out visitor; confirm that the tab and destination behave according to policy.

Integrations #

  • – MemberPress Account page
  • – MemberPress Rules
  • – MemberPress Downloads or BetterDocs for protected resource destinations
  • – External help desks or profile applications through links

Enable an integration only after its account ownership, permissions, data flow, and failure behavior have been tested. Keep secret Credentials out of page content and screenshots.

Common Issues & Troubleshooting #

  • – Tab does not appear. Confirm the add-on is active, the tab is saved, and the visitor is on the actual MemberPress Account page.
  • – Tab appears but content is public. Protect the underlying page/file with MemberPress Rules or another access-control layer.
  • – Layout breaks on mobile. Shorten the label, reduce custom markup, and test theme/account template CSS.
  • – External link loops or signs out. Verify the URL, protocol, SSO requirements, and same/new-tab behavior.
  • – Settings are missing. Confirm MemberPress and the eligible add-on version are active.

If the problem persists, reproduce it on staging, capture the exact error and relevant logs, and compare the behavior with nonessential plugins temporarily disabled. Restore the production site rather than troubleshooting destructively in place.

Updating the Plugin or Resource #

  1. 1. Back up and test MemberPress/add-on updates on staging.
  2. 2. Inspect every custom tab, destination, access rule, and mobile layout after updating.
  3. 3. Keep a written map of account navigation.
  • – Confirm that the backup completed and can be accessed independently of WordPress.
  • – Review the official changelog and compatibility notes.
  • – Update during a low-risk window and keep a tested rollback path.
  • – Clear relevant caches and perform the product-specific functional tests listed above.

Uninstallation #

  1. 1. Record tab titles, content, URLs, and access rules.
  2. 2. Remove or replace member-facing navigation before deleting the add-on.
  3. 3. Confirm destinations remain reachable through another intentional path if required.

Deactivation and deletion are not the same as data removal. Confirm the product’s current cleanup options, Database tables, uploaded files, remote data, connected accounts, and continuing external billing or scheduled actions before removal.

Security & Best Practices #

  • – Treat navigation and authorization as separate layers.
  • – Do not expose secrets in tab content or URLs.
  • – Use least-privilege account editing.
  • – Audit external destinations and expired links.
  • – Use unique administrator accounts, least-privilege roles, HTTPS, and multi-factor authentication where supported.
  • – Keep the resource, WordPress, PHP, theme, and dependencies on supported versions.
  • – Store backups and recovery instructions outside the WordPress site.
