WooCommerce Subscriptions Pro – Installation Guide

Overview #

This Resource Master entry corresponds to WP Swings Subscriptions for WooCommerce Pro. It adds subscription-product rules, recurring-payment workflows, renewals, trials, signup fees, expiry controls, and related customer/admin management to WooCommerce.

When to use it. Use it when products or services are billed on a repeating schedule and the selected gateway supports the required renewal workflow.

Before You Begin #

Platform compatibility. Use a WordPress and PHP combination supported by the current developer release. Minimum versions can change; verify the current official product page or plugin/theme metadata before production deployment. Do not bypass an activation or compatibility warning without identifying its cause.

Requirements and dependencies #

  • – WooCommerce must be installed and configured.
  • – The free Subscriptions for WooCommerce plugin and the Pro plugin must both be installed and active according to current WP Swings documentation.
  • – A supported payment gateway; automatic-renewal support varies by gateway.
  • – Correct currency, tax, email, cron, and webhook configuration.

Pre-installation checks #

  • – Back up the site and use staging with gateway sandbox Credentials.
  • – Confirm the exact WP Swings product identity; do not confuse it with similarly named WooCommerce extensions from other developers.
  • – Document refund, cancellation, renewal, retry, tax, and fulfillment policies.

Resource-specific verification note #

Installation #

  1. 1. Install and activate WooCommerce.
  2. 2. Install and activate the free Subscriptions for WooCommerce plugin.
  3. 3. Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin, upload the Pro ZIP, install, and activate it.
  4. 4. Open the WP Swings subscription settings and confirm both components are active.
  5. 5. Configure a sandbox-compatible gateway before creating the first test subscription.

License Activation #

  1. 1. Use the WP Swings license interface shown by the installed Pro plugin and enter a valid developer-issued key when available.
  2. 2. Verify update access. The resource archive does not by itself prove that a WP Swings account, license, or support entitlement is included.

Important. A premium download does not automatically establish ownership of the original developer’s account, license key, automatic-update service, cloud features, or direct support. Use only Credentials that are valid for this site and were supplied through an authorized account or an explicit Nippy Launch entitlement.

Initial Setup #

  1. 1. Enable subscription functionality and configure global behavior.
  2. 2. Create a test product with interval, period, expiry, trial, signup fee, and start date only as the business model requires.
  3. 3. Configure customer and administrator renewal emails.
  4. 4. Complete initial purchase, renewal, failed payment, cancellation, and expiration tests in sandbox mode.
  5. 5. Verify WooCommerce orders and subscription records after each event.

Recommended Configuration #

  • – Confirm gateway support for automatic renewals before promising unattended recurring billing.
  • – Use real WordPress cron or reliable scheduled-task execution for renewal workflows.
  • – Keep trial, signup fee, first payment, taxes, shipping, and cancellation terms visible at checkout.
  • – Test coupons and product changes against subscription totals.
  • – Do not edit production subscription records manually without a backup and reconciliation plan.

Main Features #

The installed edition can provide the following primary capabilities. Availability may depend on the active plan, add-ons, and current release.

  • – Subscription product configuration
  • – Recurring-order and renewal workflows
  • – Trials, signup fees, expiry, and start-date controls
  • – Customer subscription management
  • – Gateway-specific recurring payment integrations

How to Use It #

Practical starting workflow. Create a short sandbox subscription using a gateway documented as compatible. Complete signup, trigger or wait for a renewal, simulate a failed renewal, retry, cancel from the customer account, and reconcile every order, email, and gateway event.

Integrations #

  • – WooCommerce
  • – Payment gateways with documented subscription support
  • – WP Swings PayPal Subscription Integration where applicable
  • – Tax, email, CRM, membership, and fulfillment systems require end-to-end testing

Enable an integration only after its account ownership, permissions, data flow, and failure behavior have been tested. Keep secret Credentials out of page content and screenshots.

Common Issues & Troubleshooting #

  • – Recurring payment is not automatic. Verify that the exact gateway and connection method support automatic renewals in WP Swings.
  • – Renewal is not created. Check WordPress cron, scheduled actions, plugin logs, timezone, and subscription status.
  • – Customer is charged incorrectly. Pause affected workflows, compare product/fee/tax/coupon settings with gateway records, and contact qualified support before manual edits.
  • – Subscription options are missing. Confirm WooCommerce, the free WP Swings plugin, and Pro are all active.
  • – Webhooks fail. Verify endpoint URL, secret, HTTPS, firewall, and gateway delivery logs.

If the problem persists, reproduce it on staging, capture the exact error and relevant logs, and compare the behavior with nonessential plugins temporarily disabled. Restore the production site rather than troubleshooting destructively in place.

Updating the Plugin or Resource #

  1. 1. Back up Database and gateway records, then update WooCommerce, the free plugin, Pro, and gateway extension on staging.
  2. 2. Repeat signup, renewal, failure, retry, cancellation, and refund tests.
  3. 3. Monitor scheduled actions and live gateway events after deployment.
  • – Confirm that the backup completed and can be accessed independently of WordPress.
  • – Review the official changelog and compatibility notes.
  • – Update during a low-risk window and keep a tested rollback path.
  • – Clear relevant caches and perform the product-specific functional tests listed above.

Uninstallation #

  1. 1. Do not delete the plugin while active subscriptions exist without a migration or termination plan.
  2. 2. Export subscription and customer records, reconcile gateway agreements, and communicate changes to customers.
  3. 3. Cancel external billing agreements separately when required; deleting WordPress data does not necessarily stop gateway billing.

Deactivation and deletion are not the same as data removal. Confirm the product’s current cleanup options, Database tables, uploaded files, remote data, connected accounts, and continuing external billing or scheduled actions before removal.

Security & Best Practices #

  • – Use HTTPS, least privilege, and strong gateway authentication.
  • – Keep webhook secrets private.
  • – Reconcile WooCommerce and gateway records regularly.
  • – Publish clear recurring-charge, cancellation, trial, tax, and refund terms.
  • – Use unique administrator accounts, least-privilege roles, HTTPS, and multi-factor authentication where supported.
  • – Keep the resource, WordPress, PHP, theme, and dependencies on supported versions.
  • – Store backups and recovery instructions outside the WordPress site.
